Worst Christmas Gifts

Everyone has experienced that one gift that you get on Christmas morning. You know the one - the one that you smile and say "thank you" for, while mentally wondering what they were thinking. I know over the years I've got quite a collection of the worst Christmas gifts ever.

I thought I'd share with you some of the worst Christmas gifts I've received. Not only will it make you laugh, but it will also help you know what you should NOT buy for someone on your Christmas list this year. Make sure you share some of your "worst" gifts ever too. I'd love to hear them!

The Ridiculous Sweater - Okay, so sweaters have their place, but if you're going to pick out a sweater for someone for Christmas, have a little style. A few years ago I received this hideous sweater for Christmas. I'm sure the smile I tried to show when opening it probably looked a bit scary. Truthfully, I was scared. The sweater was green and red, which are festive colors, but the design crossed my eyes and the sweater was a good four sizes too big. No idea what the giver was thinking, but I almost felt insulted with that one!

Parenting Books - I'm a mom, and I must say that one of the worst Christmas gifts I ever received was a set of parenting books from my mother-in-law. I mean really, was I doing that bad of a job. I happen to think I'm a pretty good mom. Any gifts that come as a veiled insult should not be given. I got her back though. The next year, I gave her a "cooking for dummies" book, with a big smile.

A Pet Snake - Sure, I like pets, but boy did my brother-in-law make me mad when he gave my daughter a pet snake for Christmas last year. People who want to give pets to kids should always ask the parent if it's okay. I didn't want a snake, I didn't want to feed a snake, and the snake didn't last in our house a week. I have now put my foot down and make it clear that no "live" gifts will be tolerated.

These are just a few of the gifts that made my worst Christmas gift list. I have promised myself that I will never give these types of gifts to anyone else. Hope you take note of these gifts and avoid making these types of mistakes when giving gifts this year.
